Me! And Normal Me

An offbeat, navel-gazing journey in words and pictures, Me! And Normal Me is a comic book about absurd self-improvement fantasies contrasted with the painful self-consciousness of the socially awkward. The collection of loosely autobiographical drawings by artist Sandra Low comically probes her insecurities and desire to be sexier, more successful, and three inches taller. We glimpse into the lives of her regular self and her hypothetical normal self, which take unexpected turns and deftly parodies aspirational ideals about life as an artist and domestic bliss. The juvenile impulses Low gives voice to are reflected in the simple, quirky line drawings that are, at turns, hilarious, emotionally honest, and slightly disturbing.
