Little Herbert is a groundhog who has the life. He loves to sleep in his cozy mud home, but his favorite thing to do is eat lots of flowers. However, Herbert’s favorite activity is puzzling sweet, human, Jane. Jane plants her favorite flowers day by day, but she doesn’t know who is stealing her beautiful flowers. Will Jane figure out who is stealing from her garden, and what will she do when she finds the little culprit?

Although Herbert and Jane are fictional characters, the story is based on the author’s real-life experience. In 2017, Amanda moved into an apartment complex that had an attached garden in Monterey, California. She would frequently travel to the local garden store to purchase beautiful, colorful flowers and plant them in her garden. However, she would frequently wake up to find giant holes where her flowers used to be! One day, while Amanda was replacing her flowers, she witnessed a small critter pushing dirt out of a his hole. Not waisting any time, Amanda ran inside to get a shoe box, picked a fresh flower from her garden, lured out the fuzzy groundhog from his hole, and transported him to a lovely, flower-filled valley.
