He tells his parents about competing and promises to do his chores and still have enough time study all of the words in the spelling bee study guide. The day of the competition finally arrives of the competition. Through the competition as the words gradually increase in difficulty, Pecan advances as others fall . He reaches the final few rounds and is on the verge of reaching his goal of becoming Spelling Bee Champion.
