Shmeka Gibson PhD, is a native Memphian, with a background in Psychology, data analytics and social services. Changing the Mindset© is a proof-of-concept model created that applies cognitive techniques to help people change the way they think to alter their behaviors. Through life we experience many situations that alter our perceptions and behaviors. However, many times we are unaware of how to identify those deficits and target areas that needs immediate attention. I developed the model using the theories of Operant Conditioning, Growth Mindset and Cognitive Psychology. Furthermore, with continued education, interactions in the community, and research, my thought process shifted and my perspective on understanding how people think and behave altered. With this information, I developed a new concept for social services, leadership, economic development, financial literacy, trauma, and health/wellness.
