Protecting Our Children Together: Minimizing the Psychological Harms of Racism

Talking to young people about racism can be difficult, particularly when these conversations involve lessons on how to function in a racist society or stay alive during police encounters. Although these talks are necessary, they can also be psychologically damaging, especially for children of color. This book provides guidance on how parental figures can facilitate these hard discussions in a manner that will educate, empower, and instill pride, both before and after the racist event.
