This is a book written by an eleven-year-old girl with serious concerns, expressing how kids her age see the world and trying to find answers to the complications of life typical of that age. Her approach is simple but deep.
Gema Isabelle is a seventh-grader at a private school in her hometown of Caguas, Puerto Rico. She is a singer and songwriter and also a piano student at the Escuela Libre de Musica de Caguas. She took her first school steps in elementary education at the Montessori school, Ninos Uniendo al Mundo.
From a young age, she became interested in books, learning how stories can transport and transform. Her parents reinforced her love for books by reading her stories and fairy tales at bedtime in both English and Spanish. She enjoys traveling, and one of her favorite places is New Orleans, USA. She loves listening to music-pop, R&B, rock, and jazz-and among her favorite artists are Melanie Martinez, the Beatles, Nina Simone, and Bob Dylan. She also likes anime, Japanese caricatures.
In the summer of 2020, she began writing, unexpectedly and desperately, with an idea that stuck in her head. She wrote day and night and didn't stop until she finished this, her first book, Eleven, which she complemented with fifteen songs composed by herself and collected in a music album, FORMULA.
