Why Women Should Pray

Minister Salome Ikem firmly believes that women are partners of the Lord. Time spent in the company of the Lord, and her dialogues with Him keep her centered, positive, reassured, invigorated, empowered, and protected on the path she follows as a Christian woman, wife, mother, and ordained minister. Impassioned to tell other women of the influence of prayer in a woman’s life, and to spread the Lord’s messages, Salome wrote Why Women Should Pray. When work overwhelms, when children defy, when the men in our lives are a handful, when tolerance and patience run out, and when we need help just to survive the day, God expects us to address him for truth, direction, and the resilience to endure and conquer.

Prayers to the Lord are an invitation for him to cross the threshold and establish order to a chaotic life. Our dialogue with him is a discussion regarding our needs and wants. Prayer with God assures and reminds us that the line of communication is open and robust. In today’s trying times, with turmoil that may distance us from the Lord’s teaching, we must approach him for mercy and for the willingness to abide by his will.

Today, every day, we must pray relentlessly, Salome urges: Run to the throne, not to the phone. Take your troubles to the Lord.

Salome Ikem was born in Sierra Leone. After attending teacher’s training college, she moved to Guinea where she met her husband, Rev. Akaeze Ikem. Together, they started their own church called Christ4Crisis Ministry (Jesus Without Borders).
