Jamila Mimi Spaulding was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where she lived with her mother and older sister. After struggling through different schools, she decided to get her GED; but, went on to receive her Dental Assistant Certification and Associates Degree in Science.After thinking she would never find love, Mimi met and married her husband. At the time of the publication of her book, Through My Eyes, she and her husband are about to celebrate 22 years of marriage. She has 5 beautiful children and now owns an Event Lounge and Restaurant.Even though Mimi fights daily with the memories of her past, she still educates others to be their real self, live their best life and tell their own story.
