This book of poems has been in the works since the Vietnam War era. Many of them have evolved and been refined over the years – I could never let go of them. Some are about The Vietnam War and the weapons of war; some illustrate the consequences of war; some elicit the spiritual side of war; and many reflect upon how family and friends were affected. The late sixties and early seventies was a turbulent time for America and this book is an effort to present that glimpse of American History from a young person’s point of view: a young person of draft age – as I was then. Truly, it was a life changing situation for many young Americans who wrestled with how to approach and deal with The Vietnam War and the many personal conflicts that it caused to arise. And we can only hope that the lessons learned will be of benefit to our natyion and young Americans of the future.
