When the hedgedogs were mistreated and turned loose in a garden they had to learn how to fend for themselves. As they are different from the other animals and they have prickles on their backs, the other animals were scared of them.

No-one went near them or bothered to find out if they needed help. They were alone when baby Herman was scooped up and carried away by a crow. Fortunately, Herman was dropped by the crow and he fell into the Koi fish pond.

He was rescued and cared for by the Droogledots, who then set out to find his family. This story has a very happy ending. It demonstrates that it’s OK to be different and how working together can produce amazing results.
