This is the inspirational true story of Carlo Molinaro, born into a poor family in Italy during World War II. His father made him quit school by the second grade to work a job. Having no skills or schooling, Carlo worked his way up from bus boy to restaurant owner, motiviated by the words and guidance of his mother.

He worked at high-class restaurants and hotels throughout Europe, Bermuda, and the U.S., learning how to cook and from the chefs at those establishments. Along the way, he learned new languages and observed what worked and didn’t work in these restaurants, waiting for the day he could save enough money to open his own restaurant.

After journeying to the United States, which he only knew from the westerns he watched as a boy, he finally arrived in Houston, Texas during the oil boom. He was able to open his own restaurant near the famous Galleria shopping area.

He kept his menu simple, serving rustic homestyle Italian meals using only the freshest ingredients. He treated every diner like family and built a loyal customer base. He ran the restaurant for over 28 years, until health issues forced him to close.

He decided to write a book to show readers that everyone can be successful in life, if they approach their opportunites with discipline and drive while showing respect and courtesy.
