Psychotherapist Alice Brenner thinks her life is going well until her best friend, Lucy, dumps a clumsy, out-of-control Great Dane on her and her most exasperating patient, Janet, gets herself killed in the town’s park. Janet’s mother, a social and financial force in their small town, accuses Alice of being incompetent and causing her daughter’s death.
