Two Lullabies for Two Pianos

Written in March 1936 and lasting 6 minutes in total, the Two Lullabies for two pianos were composed for Benjamin Britten’s BBC audition as a piano duo with Adolph Hallis where only the second movement ‘Lullaby for a retired colonel’ was played. The first public performance took place in 1988 at the Aldeburgh Festival by Peter Frankl, Tamas Vasary.
