When the book was published in 2002, I had intended to incorporate some photographs relating to the events described in the book, but the photographs I intended to include were lost. Later, after the book was published, the photo-graphs were found. I think the pictures add a great deal to the story and I wanted the story to be told as well as possible. Also, I have made some minor but useful factual corrections and have included some relevant events that occurred after the first edition was published. This is an account of the experiences of an Army lawyer stationed in Germany during the period 1953-1955, when the Cold War was almost a hot war.
