The comparisons, or the parallels a la Plutarch, that one reads now and then in the papers too often evoke nothing but a smile. The relative failure of 1905 involved the fall of Tsarism in 1917. I remember well what the illustrious and sincerely regretted geographer Elisee Reclus quite calmly said to me at the New University of Brussels in 1905;
This is the greatest revolution the world has ever seen!
