The approach of this rhetoric/reader involves workshops, a1ong with dialogues, to engage students with the selections they read: other writers, themselves, and the audience they are writing for. Through these written and spoken dialogues, students should develop insights into what they are saying, what they mean to say, and how to say what they mean. Each major chapter is based on a writing project centred around readings on a particular theme, such as going to college, reading the news, becoming educated and ethnic identification.
