The Making of Cognitive Science: Essays in Honor of George Armitage Miller

Nineteen distinguished contributors provide essays about the development of cognitive science by colleagues of George A. Miller, a central figure whose own intellectual history is to a large extent a history of the field. Each contributor was invited to write about the period in which each was most closely associated with Miller–to try to recapture the intellectual climate of the time and to place, retrospectively, each successive research venture in its larger context. Together the essays constitute a fascinating and readable personal account of the way in which an exciting new science has come into being.
