A delightful sequel to The Adventures of Captain Bear and the Crew of the Marie Grace subtitled A Christmas Tale
by P.G Rob, an award winning artist. She illustrates in traditional handpainted watercolours and is also the author of this series. A Christmas Tale finds the crew preparing to take their sturdy canalboat, the 'Marie Grace' to Castle Joli for the festivities. Their old friends, the Pond-Willowing Band, are also going with them. At the Castle the Christmas preparations are in full swing and a few days away on their arrival. As Captain Bear, Serge Stoat and Michel Marmot
stay onboard the first night they are awoken by a loud howling noise early the next morning, When they scramble up on deck they discover a very large dog onshore. His name is Alto, a mountain herding dog who has come to ask for help. There has been a big storm in the mountains and some of the river bank has been breached and a flood now surrounds Michel Marmot's home village. A rescue plan begins with help of the Badger clan and the beavers, the river engineers. All ends well and the river is dammed and the village saved. Christmas can happen after all.
