Are you prepared for a glimpse beyond the boundaries of the Universe?
Matt Kambic and Matthew Kennedy join forces to create a genre-bending science fiction graphic novel, The Last Voyage of the S.S. Panglossian. In its pages the reader will find adventure, philosophy, science, and wonder, configured to engage and astonish.
The Optimists Society’s vessel S.S. Panglossian is transiting deep space, on a mission to reach the X-WALL- the last barrier between the known Universe and what lies beyond. Onboard are a single human embryo, and two systems-integrated ‘O-Bots’, which will facilitate the gestation, birth, and rearing of the child-in-stasis when the Panglossian is thirty years from its destination.
Their journey, ostensibly mounted to confirm that the Universe is not collapsing (in a grand reversal of the Big Bang), transforms as the O-Bots, Zero and Prime, each begin to question the other’s motivations in light of the task before them. And as the boy grows into manhood, he, too, faces misgivings. Doubt and wonder crowd the horizon as the mission reaches its apex, and physical laws begin to bend against the unknowable forces active at the very edge of the known. The threats manifest from without, and within, culminating in a thought-provoking, paradoxical resolution.
