Roberta Cameron knew from the way her aunt treated her that a disreputable mystery surrounded her birth. She didn’t feel free, this mystery trapped her. Eventually she found the strength to escape and discovered that the world had much to offer. Finally she received the acceptance, love and happiness she craved, only to find the mystery emerged and threatened to destroy the happiness of those she loved so dearly. This time there is no escape, she must find the truth. Roberta’s story is set in New Zealand in the 1890’s. This story embraces the time Roberta spent at Nelson, Dunedin, Kaitangata and New Plymouth. Kaitangata is a small South Otago coal-mining town, situated on the east coast of New Zealand. New Plymouth is a North Island town situated near Parihaka. New Zealand’s history is diverse in that the early settlers set about making this place be similar from which they came. The Maori parted from their land found the transition hard. This is a story of drama, mystery, love, romance and adventure.
