Twenty-seven years after the recording of the first 13C NMR spectrum and more than thirteen years after the introduction of the first commercial 13C NMR spectrometer, 13C NMR spectroscopy has not only become an established and well documented technique, but is also about to yield even more detailed information on increasingly complex organic and biological systems, through the possibilities opened up by pulse techniques.
