The big green spider lives in a bug paradise out behind the old Johnson Place. There are many little bugs that live nearby but he has never tried to make friends with any of them. He is afraid they will laugh at him because he is a little different from other spiders. His fears are confirmed when the other little bugs reject his plea for friendship but he forgets their rejection to warn them of an impending danger. They do not seem to listen to his warnings at first but he is surprised to learn that indeed they had when his bravery, kindness, and compassion earn him the nickname Hero by his new found friends.
