19th Century British Philosophy

Although J S Mill and Jeremy Bentham, the two giants of 19th century British thought, have been studied extensively, many other British philosophers of the same period have been neglected, overshadowed no doubt by the 18th century figures and the rise of the analytical tradition at the end of the century. The aim of these selections is to pay tribute to the variety and originality of philosophical thought by reprinting important studies which may aid the re-discovery of some of these long-neglected traditions.
