Lia, la figlia piu giovane, ribelle, fugge in continente . Il padre ne morira. La figlia incontrera un uomo da cui avra un figlio che in seguito alla morte della madre andra in Sardegna. La capacita descrittiva dell'autrice s'imprime nel lettore: i paesaggi, la casa dei protagonisti, le feste ma anche i viaggi introspettivi del servo di casa Pintor.
