Using ethnographic data, the book provides insights into first generation university students’ educational aspirations, institutional opportunities, and familial supports.
Draws from a growing body of research that has documented the changing student population in universities, particularly the increasing numbers of those who are the first in their families to attend university. Explores how students experiences are complicated by a myriad of factors such as race, class, gender, sexuality, immigrant status and geographic location.
