Mr. Ausland discusses oil prices, profits, and the pace of production; Norway’s dilemma vis-a-vis OPEC and the IEA; and the foreign policy problems raised by the location of its main oil fields. He specifically addresses the prospects of oil in the Barents Sea, where Norway finds itself caught between the great powers, and concludes with an analysis of the implications of oil for crisis management.
