Since the time of Moses and Aaron, the Israelite people relied on the guidance of appointed priest, prophets, and judges for the leadership of their people. When they saw the nations around them forming under the leadership of one man, they too decided they needed a king. When the whispers begin about a young shepherd boy named David, as God's rightful king, Saul, the newly appointed king, becomes jealous and tries to kill him. Now David, the whispered "chosen" king, must separate himself as Saul's proclaimed son, protect himself from the king's proclamation to kill him, lead his misfit friends, family, and people into a nation, wrestle with his destiny, and all while continuing to seek the heart of God.
