Dougie Dire, former star footballer, is dying. On the occult plane, he encounters characters from all time zones, including his former coach, Tommy Eliot, his best mate Smithy and his four great grandfathers, as he goes in search of Billy Abraham, a promising young footballer who disappeared after one year at the club. He travels through many countries, following the path of the infinity symbol, which first appears to him as the screensaver on a Critical Care monitor, and is the path he must eternally follow in his quest for reconciliation with himself, his family and friends, Aboriginal Australia and the Cosmos.
