Three generations of the Elsberg family are having their picture taken for the church directory. At different times during the sitting, the scene freezes and each person talks to the audience. Mavis is the matriarch. She has watched her son, John, grow up and become a successful businessman, though she had to do it alone as the widow of a Korean war soldier killed in action. John, her son works hard, and wishes the family appreciated his efforts on their behalf-even though it cost him his marriage. William is the Generation X son…aimless, cynical, and determined not to be like his dad. When the sitting is over, Mavis wants the names of her ex-daughter-in-law and granddaughter included along with her son’s and grandson’s. But she is the only one in the whole family who even attends the church…everyone else is missing . Topics are: Generational Barriers, The Church’s Failure To Reach Gen-X. Characters are: 3 Males, 1 Female. Participants are: 4. The author is Donna Lagerquist.
