This sketch and the following one both portray Jesus and the Disciples in a very human, touching, and even at times humorous light. The emphasis is on trying to make the Gospel accounts contemporary without dating them, and on wanting the audience to see the characters and identify with them. Jesus is the Son of God, but his role as servant is stressed in these sketches. The sketch focuses on the foot-washing episode. Peter, John, and Mary prepare the upper room, discussing the imminent danger Jesus faces. The supper begins but Jesus immediately explains his mission among them through the act of washing their feet. The scene ends with Jesus admonishing them to serve others, even as I have served you. (Note: this sketch can be used with or without scene II.) Topics covered include: Good Friday and Serving Others. The characters are: 1 Jesus character, 12 disciples, and 2 females. It has 15 participants and the authors are Steve Pederson and Judson Poling.
