The publication of Horace Walpole’s Miscellaneous Correspondence marks the triumphant conclusion to what has been called the greatest private scholarly achievement in history. Except for the comprehensive six-volume index, which will follow shortly, this is the final installment of the monumental Yale Edition of Horace Walpole’s Correspondence, begun in 1937.
