Samuel Maclay
Samuel Maclay (1741-1811) was a well-known surveyor, judge, and politician born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He served in the American Revolution, was elected to the Pennsylvania state legislature, and represented the state in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. John F. Meginness (1827-1899) was a prolific editor and journalist for a number of Pennsylvania newspapers. A noted local historian and book collector, he also authored several county and local histories.
