This is the first venture into the world of poetry for Joan Humphreys, who began to create poems when she retired from the world of music education. Her collection contains a great variety of poems, ranging from 'the mundane to the spiritual'. There cannot be many who will not find something to enjoy, move, challenge or inspire on reading her book.As with many people who like to read, and maybe try their hand at writing poetry, she believed that most poems had both rhyme and/or metre, but she discovered many other forms and styles on joining local creative and poetry writing groups. She found writing in different genres both challenging and rewarding. Being a musician she sees her poems as songs that sing when they are created and read, hence the title, 'The Song Sang.'
