In this, the seventh in the Roland-Piers-Andre series, the triangle shifts its emphasis. Previously, Piers and Roland were close, or Roland and Andre. Now, after Piers and the boy spent a wine-fuelled night at PARR, Roland's cottage in Normandy, Andre is out to woo Piers, now back in Wharnley choir after ten years away. Roland is ever anxious not to lose his two young men - after all that they have been to each other, but he is hampered, both mentally and physically, by the after-shocks of the plane crash over the Atlantic, in which he almost died. This story is not short on drama.
