Even though everyone is born looking like a regular human in the land of Animalia, remaining looking like one is highly irregular, and results in banishment from the community. While all of her peers, and even her younger sister, have manifested into their animals at eleven years of age, Crystalia has failed to do so. She faces a trial at which she will be sentenced to banishment for being a lowly human, a fate that might as well be a death sentence. Pushing for her banishment is her own father, who also happens to be chief of the Battle Animagai. Yet, as the daughter of the chief, she is also afforded certain privileges that would not be extended to others suspected of being human.
While she herself has never known anyone who has been banished, she knows the sentence for humans involves being set out to sea on a raft. Is this it for Crystalia?
