Jaxson Bear goes to Black Belt is a great conversation sparker. Reading this book to your child will inspire valuable insights into your child’s truth. This book deals with perseverance, determination and, most importantly, helping our children with the fear of failure.

As parents, we want to start talking and thinking about Jaxon Bear’s issues as he takes his junior black belt test.

Remember, the premise of this book series is to read the story as you come across a word or concept that is out of your child’s vocabulary range. Stop reading and spark conversation.

A good example is how I would help the students at the Taekwondo club when helping them with the fear of failure. We don’t quit when we are just learning to walk and fall. We get up and try again and again, and soon we are running around the block. We could use this example to help our children understand that learning is a series of failures.

As parents, we should make an effort to lose the stigma of failure. Someplace in our child’s short life they stop trying because of fear of failure. It limits a child’s growth potential. Starting early and taking every opportunity to get OK with failing can have long-term benefits in our child’s life.
