This book is written for the entertainment of children. The main character, Little Jack, is a zonkey (a combination zebra and donkey). He was born quite small compared to the other zonkeys, and was often left behind because he couldn’t keep up. Along Little Jack’s journey there are subtle lessons, such as: mommas generally do know best, and we don’t want to be in such a rush that we miss out on important opportunities that we discover once we slow down.
This book is also about being open to new friendships, diversity and the acceptance that we are all different in our own unique ways. This acceptance sees Little Jack’s world expand further then he ever thought possible, and once again, Momma was right.
