Bill Duffy was born, in 1941, in the Dublin working class area of Crumlin.
He was one of fifteen children. Today, he is the owner of a multi-milliondollar Canadian company, DuraSystems, that operates in the field of fire and blast protection in countries all around the world. His customers range from Mexican oil platforms to subways in Manhattan and Riyhad. His research - all personally financed - has saved lives and made highrise buildings and public spaces safer. His autobiography is the story of a Dublin ‘teddy boy’ and troublemaker - who spent time in a British military detention camp in his teens - who built up his life from being a plumber’s mate in London to at one time owning the largest sheet metal company in North America. And beyond that he discovered the product Durasteel, which he raised from being an obscure architectural requirement to being the industry standard for passive fire protection. His adventures in industry along the way include his work on First Canada Place, the Sky Dome and Canary Wharf for the Reichmann brothers. The book also follows his personal journey to his present-day lifestyle - living between his homes in Toronto and Florida - and his philosophy on life and business.
