The period since the Global Financial Crisis and numerous repeated scandals have exposed some areas of serious illegal and unethical conduct within western banking systems. Policymakers and the banks set about addressing so-called misconduct but there is ample evidence that such issues persist and that there is an underlying problem with the ‘culture’ of banking.
