This is a critical edition of the 16th-century translation into English of the Latin novella, the Historia de Duobus Amantibus , by Aeneas Silvius Piccolomini. This edition, which was previously only accessible in an old and rare diplomatic reprint, clearly demonstrates the full impact of Italian Renaissance learning on English prose fiction.
