Megafauna is the name for the biggest land animals on Earth. Prehistoric megafauna lived many thousands of years ago at a time when Earth was mostly covered in ice. They were found all around the world, from dark caves in Europe to the dry lands of Australia. The largest megafauna are now extinct.
