This report, America’s Children: Key National Indicators of Well-Being, 2017 (referred to as America’s Children) provides the Nation with a summary of national indicators of our children’s well-being and monitors changes in these indicators. This report identifies seven (7) major domains that characterize the well-being of a child and influence the likelihood that a child will grow to be a well-educated, economically secure, productive, and healthy adult. The seven domains include:
Family and social environment Economic circumstances Healthcare Physical environment and safety Behavior Education Health
This year’s report contains a special feature, Peer Victimization in the Third (3rd) Grade that uses teacher-and student-reported data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 2010-2011 (ECLS-K: 2011) 3rd Grade Collection to describe student victimization of peers at school and is produced by the National Center for Education Statistics. Appendices are included to provide a vast amount of supplementary information, such as sources and surveys used to generate the data included in this report.
