Land Registry annual report and accounts 2007/8: report to the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor by the Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive on the work of Land Registry for the year 2007/8

H.M. Land Registry was established in 1862 as a government department in its own right; it became an executive agency in 1990 and a trading fund in April 1993. Its main aims are: to maintain and develop a stable and effective land registration system throughout England and Wales; to guarantee title to registered estates and interests in land; to provide ready access to up-to-date and guaranteed land information; and, to provide a land charges and agricultural credits service. This annual report and accounts reviews the Registry’s activities, objectives and performance during the year ending March 2008.
