Caps for Sale and the Mindful Monkeys

In the same folklore tradition as the classic Caps for Sale and its sequel More Caps for Sale comes a new story of the caps peddler, the monkeys, and a whole lot of monkey business. Now those mischievous monkeys that had worn the peddler’s wares in Caps for Sale just won’t leave him alone. As he walks through the streets selling his caps, the monkeys walk behind him. Right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. As he walks back home at the end of the day, they trail along too. All in step.

Those monkeys! The peddler is tired of their trouble, and asks his friend Essie for advice. But Essie thinks the peddler should give them one more chance before he decides they’re no good. Will the peddler listen to Essie And if he does, will he discover that she’s right When the peddler must go out of town to attend to a sick friend, it turns out that those monkeys are more helpful than they appear. They secretly sneak into his workshop at night and secretly create many caps for the peddler to sell, coming to his rescue just in time!

Filled with warmth and humor, this continuation of the series uses original art chosen by Ann Marie Mulhearn Sayer of the Slobodkina Estate alongside a captivating text also developed by the Estate. Through this posthumous story, Sayer awakens Slobodkina’s voice.
