But one snowy night Emma hears a knock at her door, and a tiny voice asking for help. This charming retelling of a traditional tale by award-winning author Martin Waddell is perfectly complemented by David Robert’s atmospheric illustrations. At the end of the story is a two-page series of excerpts from Emma’s diary, which can be used to by children to check understanding and to recap the story in their own words. It also offers an opportunity for further work outside the reading session.
