What we're reading: Riordan, Roach

Each week our wonderful staff share the books that they've been enjoying.

Alicia is reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Wrath of the Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan has done it again with his brand new instalment of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Our golden trio are back as Percy, Annabeth and Grover work together for a college letter of recommendation. Their quest? Pet-sitting . . . for the goddess Hecate, during the week of Halloween. It can’t be that hard, right?

Nostalgic is the best way to describe this book; from the excitement of a new instalment, to laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe, to becoming teary over how much these characters have grown, Riordan has delivered one of my favourite novels of the year. It’s the perfect book for anyone that wants a relaxing read, needs a good laugh or like me, loves Percy Jackson!

Celeste is reading Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law by Mary Roach

Anyone who’s spoken to me in the last week or so will probably know that I've been reading Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law, as they have been bombarded with strange animal facts whenever I’m in earshot.

This irreverent non-fiction book follows Roach as she investigates wildlife conservation tactics that attempt to prevent or respond to criminal animal activity.

Be warned, if you gift this book to someone else, you will be subjecting yourself to hearing about fascinating stories, including court-summoned caterpillars, Indian elephant retirement plans, and bears' ice cream preferences (spoiler alert – it’s Häagen-Dazs).
