The winners of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards 2015

The winners of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year Awards 2015 have been announced. The winners and honour books in each of the categories are listed below.

Older Readers

Winner: The Protected by Claire Zorn

Honour books: Nona & Me by Clare Atkins and The Minnow by Diana Sweeney

Younger Readers

Winner: The Cleo Stories: The Necklace and the Present by Libby Gleeson with illustrations by Freya Blackwood

Honour books: Two Wolves by Tristan Bancks and Withering-by-Sea: a Stella Montgomery Intrigue by Judith Rossell

Early Childhood

Winner: Go to Sleep, Jessie! by Libby Gleeson with illustrations by Freya Blackwood

Honour books: Scary Night by Lesley Gibbes with illustrations by Stephen Michael King and Noni the Pony goes to the Beach by Alison Lester

Picture Book of the Year

Winner: My Two Blankets by Irena Kobald with illustrations by Freya Blackwood

Honour books: One Minute’s Silence by David Metzenthen with illustrations by Michael Camilleri and The Stone Lion by Margaret Wild with illustrations by Ritva Voutila

Eve Pownall Award for Information Books

Winner: A-Z of Convicts in Van Diemen’s Land by Simon Barnard

Honour books: Tea and Sugar Christmas by Jane Jolly with illustrations by Robert Ingpen and Audacity: Stories of Heroic Australians in Wartime by Carlie Walker with illustrations by Brett Hatherly

Crichton Award for New Illustrators

Winner: One Minute’s Silence illustrated by Michael Camilleri with text by David Metzenthen
