The Melbourne Prize for Literature 2024 Finalists
The 2024 finalists have been announced for the Melbourne Prize for Literature, one of Australia's most valuable and prestigious literary awards.
The Melbourne Prize for Literature 2024 will be awarded to a Victorian author whose body of published work has made an outstanding contribution to Australian literature and to cultural and intellectual life. The prize is supported by major patron, The Vera Moore Foundation, and the winning author will receive $60,000.
2024 also marks the inaugural year of the Falls Creek Writers Residencies, which provides a 3 week residency at the Falls Creek Alpine Resort and $1,000 for each recipient, proudly sponsored by Readings. The winners of the residency will be announced here on November 14.

Five finalists for the Writer's Prize 2024 have also been announced; the Writer's Prize is awarded to the author of an essay of outstanding originality, literary merit and creative freshness. The winning essay will be published in Meanjin.

An exhibition of finalists will be on show at Fed Square from November 3rd to 14th, where visitors will be able to learn about the finalists and cast a vote for the Civic Choice Award 2024, which will award $1,500 to the winning author, sponsored by Hardie Grant. Voters also go into the draw to win a $100 Readings gift card!
All non-winning finalists will receive $1,000, supported by Fed Square.
