The shortlists for the 2019 Inky Awards have been announced! These awards are presented by State Library Victoria (SLV) for local and international fiction, poetry, anthologies and graphic novels written for young adults. Congratulations to all the authors on the shortlist!

The titles shortlisted for the Gold Inky Award (for an Australian book) are:

• Hive by A. J. Betts
• A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews
• Amelia Westlake by Erin Gough
• Whisper by Lynette Noni
• After the Lights Go Out by Lili Wilkinson

The titles shortlisted for the Silver Inky Award (for an international book) are:

• The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
• The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
• The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton
• The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X. R. Pan
• Scythe by Neal Shusterman

The shortlisted titles were selected by a panel of eight teen judges from around Australia. Public voting is now open to teen readers on the titles here. Voting closes 5pm AEST 18 August. The winners will be announced in September.
