Our best-seller from the past week is Katherine Collette’s novel, The Competition. The story follows Frances who is drawn to compete in a speaking competition by the potential $40 000 prize and its ability to fix some pressing problems. Our reviewer Gabrielle Williams says of the novel: ‘This is one I’d happily press into the hands of everyone who came into the shop, so go grab your towel, head down to the beach, and settle in with a new favourite book.’ You can read her full review here.
Other books making an appearance on our bestseller list this week include local crime novels When We Fall and The Cane, the prose debut from poet Omar Sakr, and popular non-fiction including a brief history of the Soviet Union and a guide to understanding the stars drawing on the knowledge of First Nations Elders from around the world.
